ORGANIC. Just a Trend? Just a Word? Or the way of THINKING?

Organic! We hear it everywhere. It seems to be such an important word and for some the philosophy. But what is organic really and how the meaning of this idea changed and changes over generations?

Some thirty years ago I didn't notice anyone had to even emphasize it, mention it or differentiate it! Today we even hear about organic economy, clothing and thinking! Are we really that rotten? Has the world gone so bad? Why being such forward thinkers is forcing us to go back to the roots, to the base of where we actually came from? Is not it a regress? Shell we go back and think what and when things gone really wrong?

This is pure, clear water. How obvious you may think. Obvious, it was supposed to be! Apparently it is not! How many of you would reach to drink straight from the stream? Or maybe you would think twice before doing it? But the water comes from Earth! From the original source, most pure and perfect!

I remember doing that when I was a kid. We were walking in the forest and, we came across the stream and we gotten thirsty, and there was water! So we simply drank. It was great feeling to be able to do it. Until time came and we were told to STOP. Stop because it got polluted. It gotten polluted because some people wanted to harvest more and faster and they needed to use fertilizers which penetrated the soil and naturally gotten to the water. How sad!

So much water! You cant see the end of it as you can't reach beyond horizon. So much water! We manage to pollute it! Such a beautiful view, breathtaking! Aren't you thinking of just being there right now and breathing the air with the all strength in your lungs? This is ORGANIC. And best without human intervention. Most beautiful and magnificent. Why should we make the laws to preserve it? Why can't we simply understand it? We breath it, we live it and yet we destroy it with our most scientific inventions which we are so proud of.

We are proud of our ability to build cities. Tall buildings, stock one next to each other. We can place so many people in such a small square footage! Amazing! We call it economical, smart solution. We don't have to drive far, everything is within reach. All is organized into blocks, numbers, data's and stats. We follow signs, lights and directions. Rules are displayed above, bellow and anywhere you look. All you have to do is read, thinking not required, just follow the orders. Where is the idea of ORGANIC?

And then this fantastic view. Right on the water! The higher you live, the more you pay, because they charge you for the view! The view they didn't create. But remember, go organic! Before you pour the water to your glass make sure it is filtrated, filtrated real well as the city dumps in it whatever is a disposal. They call it, smart solution, technology, science, infrastructure. I call it human inability to think organic! I call it greedy and ignorance. I call it short sight. I call it barbarity and vandalism.
On this beautiful island, with the most beautiful view, where you pay top dollar for air and drinking water, you will certainly find plenty of shops promoting organic goods. What an integrity!

And here it is not so high tech image. Barrow full of weeds. Image behind which there is much of work, effort and time of one devoted farmer who understands the meaning of truly organic. Someone who respects the Earth and its living mechanism. Someone who instead of pouring some acid which could kill the weeds fast and really well, actually did it with his own hands having to most likely being on his knees to make sure none of it is left so the soil is clean and naturally fertile.

And here some fresh, young, juicy carrots, leek and mint, collected not to be stored, canned or preserved, but to be consumed, soon or even now, right away. This is Organic.
It doesn't need any label nor government approval. Someone who thought organic, knew better then to destroy the soil from which he will gather his harvest.

This truly organic pumpkin will be a food for many, with no extra charges for being pure, healthy and really nutrient. Pumpkin from my parents garden! They respect the nature and this is what they get in return.

Cucumbers, zucchini and red pepper. As you can see they are all different sizes, they are designed by nature, not by human. They grew as they wanted and how much they wanted. Nobody decided for them which shape and size they should be to qualify to be sold before they got rotten. Why, when we go to the store we are looking for things that look pretty and even? Have you ever noticed that veggies that are shiny, even and picture perfect don't smell at all?
Organic food smells good! Cucumbers smell like cucumbers and bell pepper smell like bell pepper. Non organic food smells like nothing really, or actually bell pepper smells like cucumber and cucumber smells like bell pepper. Why would you look for the look? Go for flavor, scent and truly original produce!

Squashes! Yummy, believe me. September harvest. Great as a decor and on your plate in hundreds ways over. I am so proud of my parents to cultivate original, organic, approach to life. Their respect is well paid of. They passed it on on me.
Thinking organic will let let you be fooled by anyone and anything.

It makes me very happy to see people promoting organic living and style, but at the same time it makes me sad that such thing needs to be even promoted! We have gone so far away from quiet, slow and natural timing. Timing for growth bloom and harvest. We want it all and we want it all instantly and then its just not the same, it will never be the same!

Traveling through west coast I have come across really cool shop/market where you could purchase many organic goods. From jam through soap through cotton garments. I stopped and spent some time there and it was tranquil. It felt good as if I was meditating, I could hear my soul and I could hear the wind. It felt Organic then.

This is not New York City or San Francisco. This is far from civilization, far from the tribe who pride themselves with accomplishment. They walk on the moon, they do open heart surgery and they manufacture food they get sick from. I am trying to make sense here, but I am not finding any, do you?
Why can't we live in harmony? In harmony with Earth and Universe?

It is in our nature, unlike animals to surround ourselves with beauty. We always try to create natural environment with great floral architecture and we can do it pretty well. Unfortunately we don't do it fast enough. Cement and cities are growing fast like mashrooms after the rain. We try to put tree here and there. We take them from their organic origin forcing to exist in artificial environment. It just doesn't work. We suffer from luck of organic thinking and we replace it with poor technology and short sighted perception.

Organic food, pure water should be at anyone reach. At its original place and form. We shouldn't pay for view or water it was given to us. But we turned it all around. Upside down. We soon will not know what is organic. We will have to take our children to a museum to show how real chicken or cow looks like. We will have to explain that apples grow on a tree not in a factory.
We are already paying to be and stay healthy. We don't know what is organic and we won't until we will think it then we maybe become it.
